I’m always on the lookout for processes that bring organization to the incredible amount of information that I consume. The program Evernote is a tool that I’ve been using for a couple of years and it’s become an indispensable tool for me to collect and access information easily. With the new Google Chrome web browser, Evernote has created a new add-on called Clip to Evernote that has me even more excited – more on that in a moment.

What is Evernote:
- Evernote is a free service that allows me to save anything – files, pictures, email, web pages, audio files, account information, personal information – in one central location, and access it quickly across different devices – for me, it’s my computer and iPhone (it also works on iPad, Android, and Windows mobile).
- It’s secure so I can be sure my information is encrypted and protected, all I do is create a username and password for access.
- I can easily search my information by keyword because it indexes every word in each of my entries. It even converts the text from pictures or PDF documents so that they’re searchable.
How it Works:

I’ve wanted to start a blog for awhile but the things of life have always seemed to eclipse the time needed to invest in one. But, technology has diminished the inconvenience (I can blog right from my phone if I want to). Also, the ability to integrate social media quite seamlessly, so as to keep content fresh, has alleviated some pressure to continually prepare that next big post. First, a disclaimer: This is my personal blog and the editorials are not representative of any company, organization, or client that I am associated with. The focus is on living an intentional life: in other words, living life on purpose because of your purpose.
To that end, there are a few key areas that I gravitate to and plan to examine, including:
- Leadership – I’m passionate about leadership.
- Productivity – particularly best-practices and new technology that can be used or adapted for personal/ professional growth. I’m a former CBA Book Buyer and love reading so I hope to share books that I’ve read which have been great tools for me.
- Faith – In order to live a purposeful life one must first have purpose. Mine is based on my Christian faith, my relationship with God, and revealed through His Word. Discussing, wrestling with, seeking revelation, and worshiping God.
- Politics – I am a Christian, conservative (and Constitutional), Republican. The principles of the Republican party well fit with much of my worldview well. Not all Republican’s represent all of my values, but it’s the same with any other organization. As a Christian and an American, I choose to be engaged in self-governance.
- Personal Observations – Miscellaneous observations on topics that matter to me and don’t fit into an aforementioned category. It may include quotes that I’ve come across or a review of a book that I’ve just read.
I am a businessman and entrepreneur in West Michigan. I own a small company with my wife, Candice. I’m a Republican, and am the current Chairman of the Allegan County Republican Party. I’m a former Book Buyer with Family Christian Store’s and love everything about book publishing and retail. I’m a former Youth Pastor and Christian musician. I hold my undergraduate and graduate degree’s in business and economics. But most importantly, I’m a husband and daddy, and I’m saved by grace.
I hope to produce content that adds value to life and fosters personal, professional, and relational growth. If you seek the same, I hope you’ll connect with me here and on Twitter where I’m trying to build a personal network of intentional leaders.
